RIP Arturo Gatti

Posted 11 months ago

For those of you who are not boxing fans or do not follow boxing, Arturo Gatti and exciting and class act fighter died this past weekend. Arturo Gatti may not have been the most technically sound and greatest fighter of his weight classes, however he was the most exciting and inspiring to watch and follow.

In my opinion all of Gatti's fights were thrilling, however most notably in my book are his trilogy of fights against Micky Ward. These two were appropriately labeled "Blood and Guts Warriors".

I will not turn this into a short novel since I completely lambasted the overbearing media coverage of a certain famous persons death. However, those people are all fans, just as I am a die hard fan of Arturo Gatti.

The one thing that I idolize Arturo Gatti as well as Micky Ward for more than any other attribute is they both have an unusual amount of respect for their fellow man. Its very hard to find folks with the camaraderie that exists within these two men and its even more rare in professional sports.

Arturo Gatti, sir, you will be greatly missed in the sport of boxing and by many others outside of the ring as well. Rest in peace.

Sean
